A day in the life

As the head of propositions and product marketing, you are the voice of the customer for ManyPets. You are focused on understanding the market, the customer, and the competition to make sure we're building the right products at the right price for the right customer - every time. You will set the bar on our value proposition and product proposition to make sure that everyone in the company understands who we are, what we stand for, and who each of our products is right (and not right) for. You'll make sure everyone knows who our target customer is and what the right product is for them.

Competitor tracking and benchmarking is key - making sure that we understand the landscape in which we operate and how it is changing to make sure that we are always one step ahead of the competition - whether it's on our offering, our pricing, or our experience.

You'll create a culture of product marketing excellence - creating product propositions and positioning that is clear, understandable and can be leveraged by stakeholders across both marketing and the rest of the business. You're setting both a high-level strategy but also not afraid to jump in and write copy or positioning if needed. You'll be comfortable owning the product adoption targets and be focused on how we drive penetration of our highest value products to make sure we have the right mix.

Your responsibilities

  • Own value proposition, product proposition, and audience segmentation approaches to ensure we have the right products at the right price for the right audience - and that everyone in the business knows what we are selling to whom and why
  • Manage all product launches to ensure that we are successfully building clear propositions, GTM strategies, and driving adoption from day one
  • Setting a high bar for the use of data and insights in decision making across marketing and cross-functional working groups, building a quantitative and qualitative 'voice of the customer ' experience
  • Identify opportunities and risks from both competitor landscapes and market changes and ensure that the business as a whole is adapting to the future marketplace
  • Coach and develop our Propositions Managers and build out efficient and effective processes to support their success.

What does success look like?

  • Clear definition of ideal product mix in partnership with underwriting team
  • Increased adoption of highest-value products by clear product proposition per product
  • Increased speed of adoption for new products due to improved product launch process
  • Deeper understanding of customer and potential customer segmentation to inform product targeting
  • Improved product-level NPS
  • Clear objectives and career progression framework for Proposition Managers.

Your skills and experience

  • Must have personal lines insurance industry experience (ideally pet insurance), understanding the unique market dynamics and product proposition challenges within the space
  • Understanding of the product lifecycle process and driving performance at every stage - launch, maturity, retirement
  • Experience in developing clear propositions for complex products to drive clarity and clear customer understanding
  • Experience in building GTM strategies that help inform broader marketing channel execution
  • Comfortable building roadmaps that inform prioritisation across the team to maximise the bandwidth of a small team
  • Highly data-driven and comfortable setting a high standard for the use of data across the business
  • Extensive team management experience, creating an environment that both fosters high performance and sets accountability
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed organisation and partnering with stakeholders to deliver better outcomes than achievable alone

Ways of working

On a typical day you’ll be working from a laptop with a screen, mouse, keyboard, and headset.  You’ll be meeting your colleagues on Zoom and keeping in touch regularly via email and Slack too – we’d expect you to be using your computer for around seven hours a day.  We’d ask that you have a distraction-free work area and a reliable internet connection with a speed of 25Mbps so you can work effectively.  We’ll make sure you have the right home set-up that supports you in the role by providing best-in-class technology, money towards a desk, and vision support.
