About the Opportunity

We launched ManyPets in America in 2021 and we’ve grown quickly – we now have a team of around 100 people distributed across Atlanta and New York.  We’re looking to hire an experienced Data Analyst to help us shape our US offering and build on the data architecture we already have available within our global business.

As a Data Analyst you'll be a critical link between the Underwriting and technical teams around the world. You’ll enable stakeholders get access to the insight they need and make the most of our data - while learning how the data flows work and where we can make improvements. You'll help us develop, produce, and automate reports, measurements, and insights - plus influence the way we expose data to drive meaningful insight.

In this role you’ll be building on our extensive global data warehouse. You’ll help us curate our data so we can localise, iterate, and design our approach in the US. You’ll make sure we’re navigating our systems so that the right market knowledge is considered -and our data dictionary is fit for purpose.

Day-to-day you’ll will work closely with our Data Engineers, Product Managers, and Underwriting teams and other key stakeholders to ensure that our data dictionary and architecture are aligned with both our business requirements and best practices. We can promise an exciting role with autonomy, the opportunity to work with a close-knit local team, and to partner and learn from our global colleagues within the broader Engineering, Product, and Design community.

Your Focus

  • Collaborate with the Underwriting and Leadership teams to diagnose and understand our business requirements and future needs.
  • Understand our key performance indicators and deliver actionable insights and proposals against them to foster data-driven decisions.
  • Define our local data models and data flows to support the US data dictionary and architectural requirements.
  • Build dashboards, reports, and analytics to provide insight to our Underwriting teams.
  • Implement and update a variety of in-depth reports that monitor the performance of our US business.
  • Standardize our data elements so we can capture and report our insight accurately to our regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor and analyze data usage patterns to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Develop and maintain data quality rules and validation procedures, making sure our US data dictionary and architecture are accurate and aligned with our global approach.
  • Partner with our global Engineering, Product, and Design squads to make sure our local data requirements are implemented - and any necessary APIs are established and integrated.
  • Provide quality control oversight, ensuring data integrity is maintained as iterations or changes are implemented and moved into production.
  • Provide guidance and support to our global teams and local stakeholders on the use of the US data dictionary and architecture.
  • Understand the data landscape and design new queries and analysis, with the extended business in mind.
  • Provide regular, ad-hoc and project-based support on the use of our analytical tools.

What Leads to Success

Here are some of the individual skills we know will enable you to succeed in this position. If you don’t tick every box - don't worry. We can support you in both your personal and professional development:

  • Data is your heart and soul. One of your biggest strengths is understanding, structuring, and analysing large data sets.
  • You're the sort of person who is highly analytical and who enjoys translating complex data into something everyone can understand.
  • You value diversity and are sensitive to different environments and cultures.
  • You're a stickler for accuracy with superb attention to detail.
  • You embrace and support learning - both new tools and ways of working.
  • You take the initiative without too much support. You're accountable for delivery in an environment that is ever changing - and where you set your own outcomes.
  • Your colleagues say you're the sort of person who likes to move fast, pragmatically seeking problems and thinking about the wider impact to the business.
  • You build collaborative relationships and demonstrate the ability to influence across the business - you make change happen by working well with others.

What We’re Looking For

  • You bring experience of analysing business databases and turning data insights into actionable activities.
  • You have previous experience with US property and casualty regulatory reporting requirements.
  • You’ll likely be in a similar level data analytics position right now and are looking for something where you can be more impactful.
  • You enjoy working in an Agile environment - you should be an advocate of Agile or Kanban methodologies.
  • You'll know how to balance delivery in a local market, while working alongside a broader global team and brand.
  • You’ll have a solid understanding of U.S. property and casualty insurance and ideally, you'll have some experience of working in a scale-up business like ours.
  • We'd love it if you had a relevant degree, however we appreciate not everyone is able to pursue further education. Your life and commercial experience are just as valuable!

Technical skills

  • SQL
  • Advanced Excel skills, applied in a business context
  • BI tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Google Data Studio, QlikView, Spotfire et al.)
  • Dashboarding
  • Any automation experience would be advantageous.

Inclusion at ManyPets

We believe diversity, belonging and inclusion are more than just words or things we should be 'seen' to be doing.  Having diversity at the core of our business makes us stronger - and the responsibility for creating an inclusive workplace rests with all of us.  If you'd like to read more about this, please download our Approach to Inclusion pack. We promise to give you the same opportunities as everyone else and we won’t discriminate against you at any point in the process. This includes how we source talent, our interview process, our conditions of employment (including pay) and feedback.

Hybrid-Working

We work from home and our company offices in the UK, so we've created our "Making Work, Work" guide which explains it all.  We offer a fantastic range of company benefits to suit everyone in a remote-first world, with a focus on supporting our physical and mental wellbeing.

On a typical day you’ll be working from a laptop with a screen, mouse, keyboard, and headset.  You’ll be meeting your colleagues on Zoom and keeping in touch regularly via email and Slack too – we’d expect you to be using your computer for around seven hours a day.  We’d ask that you have a distraction-free work area and a reliable internet connection with a speed of 25Mbps so you can work effectively.  We’ll make sure you have the right home set-up that supports you in the role by providing best-in-class technology, money towards a desk, and vision support.   We’re open to discussing any adjustments you may need too – we’ll be in touch before you join to discuss what you need to be at your best.

Reasonable Adjustments and Support

If you need any help, support or advice at any point during the hiring process please email our Inclusion team in complete confidence.  Our Inclusion team are not the hiring managers for this role and they're here to make sure everyone has a fair and equitable experience when they're considering joining us.  If you want to talk or ask any questions, we are here to listen (and we'll do what we can to flex our approach to a process that suits you.)
